Zoom! teeth whitening has been featured on TV's Extreme Make over and is probably the most popular In-office chair side whitening system among dentists. In about an hour and a half you will leave our Sunnyvale office with dramatically whiter teeth. This system is great for those busy individuals who want whiter teeth in one appointment. On the other hand we do offer a Take-Home whitening system. This is great for those who want a touch up or for those who prefer a gradual whitening due to overly sensitive teeth and gums.

Zoom! is a whitening process that lightens discoloration of enamel and dentin.

What Can Cause Tooth Discoloration?

There are many causes. The most common include aging and consumption of staining substances such as coffee, tea or tobacco. During tooth formation, consumption of tetracycline, certain antibiotics, or excessive fluoride may also cause tooth discoloration.

How Does The Zoom! In-Office System Work?

The Zoom! light-activated whitening gel's active ingredient is hydrogen peroxide. As hydrogen peroxide is broken down, oxygen enters the enamel and dentin, whitening any colored substance while keeping the structure of the teeth unchanged. The Zoom! Lamp aids in activating the hydrogen peroxide and helps it penetrate the surface of the teeth.

Is The Zoom! In-Office Procedure Painful?

No. During the procedure, patients can listen to music and many fall asleep.

Are There Any Side Effects?

Some people experience temporary increased tooth sensitivity to cold during treatment. These symptoms disappear within one to three days after interruption or completion of the treatment.

How Long Is The Procedure?

The entire procedure takes about an hour and a half. The procedure begins with a preparation period followed by an hour of whitening. A five-minute fluoride treatment completes the procedure. We recommend a cleaning prior to the actual Zoom! Whitening session.

How Is the Take-Home System Different From The Zoom! In-Office System?

The main difference between the two systems is that you use the Take-Home System in the convenience of your own home. The Take-Home gel is designed to be worn for an hour each evening for about 1 week. The Zoom! In-Office System is performed entirely in the office.
